I normally don’t make New Years Resolutions. I have 2 for next year:
1. Make it to every race I sign up for. I’m sure you’re thinking that doesn’t really sound like something worthy of a New Years Resolution, but it is. I bailed out of 3 races this year that I signed up for. It always seems that Saturday morning races are followed by a rough Friday at work where going out for a drink after work sounds like a brilliant idea. And after the first drink, more drinks sound like an even better idea. After drink #3 I decide that making it to the race doesn’t sound like a good idea.
2. Doing 9 races and volunteering for 1 by the end of August. This will guarantee me entry into the 2012 NYC Marathon. Technically I have the whole year to do my 9-1, but I want to do it by August. I have to do at least 1 race per month starting in January. Have I mentioned yet that I hate running in the freezing cold?
Ok. So, those are my two resolutions. I think they’re doable.
